PRESQUE ISLE – Leila F. Smith, 82, died Feb. 29, 2012, at her residence. She was born May 26, 1929, in Presque Isle, daughter of the late Orlin L. and Dorothy M. (Diehl) Bishop.
Mrs. Smith was employed at Maine Public Service Co., retiring in 1992. Leila was a member of Grant Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Burton E. Smith, in 1982; two brothers, Gordon G. Bishop, in 1990, and Earl D. Bishop, in 1995; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Bishop, in 2009. She is survived by sisters-in-law, June Bishop of Tobaccoville, N.C., and Ezalee Smith of Easton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and caregivers, Kathy Ozuna, Tina Saucier, Lazareth Porguin and Lucrecia Balderas.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in May 2012 at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating.
