BANGOR, Maine — Reports of an explosion and the odor of chemicals early Friday evening brought a large contingent of police officers and firefighters to 347 Buck St.

When they arrived, however, public safety personnel instead found that a container of pepper spray somehow had discharged, getting into the eyes of a person who was at the residence, Bangor police Sgt. Chip Hodges said Friday night.

Emergency medical personnel flushed the afflicted person’s eyes at the scene but no other medical treatment was needed, Hodges said. He said no one was charged in connection with the incident, which occurred about 5:30 p.m.

  2. WOW!! Hot news. Has anyone else noticed very few stories have changed in the last week? Has everyone at the BDN gone on strike? Glad I don’t pay for this rag.

  3. What no one shot or arrested?  If this had happened a few miles west near the airport it would have made international news.  Buck street always the scene of local news. Im a bit surprised this wasn’t investigated by the dept of homeland security..what ethnicity was the person who sprayed themselves..Is it possible they could be a person of interest?
