She graduated from Higgins Classical Institute, Charleston. Ginny married Elvin Bragdon, Nov. 4, 1944, and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. She led an active and full life. Her love of family, civic duty and mankind in general translated into a lot of hard purpose-driven work. Ginny served on SAD 68 school board for many years. She served some of those years as chairman and chairman of joint board of SAD 68 and Foxcroft Academy. In 1967 Ginny and Elvin started Bragdon’s Flower Shop and Greenhouses, Dover-Foxcroft. She continued to operate the flower shop until her retirement in 2003. Ginny was politically active and served as chairman of Dover-Foxcroft Republican Party and on the Maine state board. She headed up local re-election campaigns for many years. Her annual Piscataquis Republican lobster dinners were famous and well attended. Ginny was a wonderful, loving, hard working mother of eight. She taught her children in word and deed that every person was important in God’s eyes. Ginny and her husband, Elvin, instilled in their children a good work ethic, integrity, and a love of reading, poetry and education. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for her children. From the huge family gardens she canned an average of more than 1,000 quarts of preserves for many years.
