CARIBOU – Charles F. Turner Jr., 88, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, with his family at his side at a Caribou nursing facility. Charles was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Presque Isle, the son of Charles and Ida (McNeal) Turner.

Charles served his country faithfully during World War II in Sicily, Naples, Rome, Southern France and Rhineland. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead. Charles was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Caribou. Charles retired from Precious Metals, Carteret, N.J., as a security chief after 25 years of service. He then returned to his roots in Aroostook County in 1988. He enjoyed boating on the various lakes in northern Maine and gardening while living in Woodland.

Charles is survived by his sister, Marion Turner of Presque Isle; his children, Avery Turner of Woodland, Bion Turner of New Jersey, Charlene Turner Niedermeier and her husband, Alan, of Woodland and Christine Ida Turner Browning of Woodland; his grandchildren, Jason French and his wife, Tina, of Lawrence Harbor, N.J., Kyle Vislosky of Presque Isle, Scott and Tim Browning of Woodland, Stacey Turner of Woodland, Megaan Turner of New Hampshire and Samantha Lundeen of Caribou; four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brothers, Jimmy and Clifford Turner; a sister, Navade Turner Jacobs; and a son, Clifford Charles Turner.

Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. After visitation, funeral services will be held 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
