SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A robbery at a Portland pharmacy followed by a brief standoff at a South Portland home has resulted in the arrest of three men.

Police say a CVS store in Portland was robbed just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday by people wearing Halloween masks and claiming to be armed with knives.

The suspects fled but were traced to a home in South Portland based on a description of the thieves’ getaway vehicle. Police did not say if they made off with money or drugs or both.

Police surrounded the home and after a brief standoff the suspects were taken into custody.

Authorities say 29-year-old Ivan Papkee; 32-year-old Gustave Papkee; and 24-year-old Ryan Best all face robbery charges.

  1. ” Police did not say if they made off with money or drugs or both.”  If they didn’t take money they likely weren’t using a taxi for a getaway vehicle like the the Bangor wannabe criminals often would do.  So  can we safely assume that it’s likely that since they chose a pharmacy rather than a credit union that they were after drugs?

  2. Hmmm… Now, if only the “Augusta Proposed Bill to Show ID’s were approved, the robbers would need ID’s showing their faces WITHOUT the Halloween masks to get the drugs…

  3. The pharmacists should be required to keep a sawed off shotgun under the counter.

Perp…”give me all or drugs or I’m going to kill you”

Pharm…”Ok. Here you go……, here comes the good stuff…..Boom.” “say hello to my little friend”

    Robberies solved.

  4. false floor were robbers would have to stand could be handy they could be dropped into a cell like room and await arresting officers
