PERHAM – Linda Gail Seward, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at her home after a very courageous battle with lung cancer. Linda was born Oct. 31, 1940, in Washburn, daughter of the late James and Doris (Dickinson) McBreairty.
In 1958, Linda married George Seward. She graduated from Washburn District High School and worked there many years as a teacher’s aide. She very much enjoyed directing the annual senior play during her years at Washburn District High School. She was a wonderful friend to teachers and students alike and was the person everyone turned to when they needed something done. Linda was a member of Washburn Trailrunners Snowmobile Club, where she served as secretary and director for the past seven years. She also was a 54-year member of the Alumni Association and for many years did a great job coordinating the Alumni Banquet. Linda was a 50-year member of Perham Friendship Club and was treasurer for many years. She received many blessings as a lifetime member of Perham Baptist Church. Linda doted on her family. She and great-granddaughter, Sage formed a special bond during regular Friday nights at granddaughter, Shannon’s home. Linda was a friend and bright light to everyone she met. Her courage during adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will always be a shining example to her family and friends for her generosity, her adventurous nature, fun-loving and feisty personality, and her ability to handle any and all hurdles that came her way. Linda was also very creative and proved it throughout the years with her paintings, woodworking projects, ceramics and photography. Her wooden replicas of houses, churches, etc. were especially cherished by anyone lucky enough to receive them.
Linda is survived by her husband, George of Perham; two sons, Kirby of Mapleton and Dean of Washburn; daughter, Kelly Meacham and her husband, Brian, of Wade; two sisters, Molly Stevens and her husband, Patrick, of Eddington, and Noreen McIntosh of Washburn; one brother, Marvin McBreairty and his wife, Edwina, of Brewer; grandchildren, Shannon Dubay and her husband, Shawn, of Caribou, Shawn Henthorn and his fiancee, Mandy, of North Carolina, Nathan Seward of Kansas, Conor, Megan and Morgan Seward of Mapleton; great-grandchildren, Sage and Seth Dubay of Caribou, Aiden, Siara and Ashlynn Henthorn of North Carolina, and Hayden Seward of Kansas; many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her son, Danny. The family thanks Hospice of Aroostook and Linda’s very special nurse, Ruth Collins for the excellent care they provided.
Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Perham Baptist Church with a celebration of Linda’s life being held 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Goupille, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Perham. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to contribute in memory of Linda may do so to Perham Baptist Church memorial fund.
