BANGOR – Wilbert “Will” N. Marquis, 89, husband of the late Naomi (Moreault) Marquis, died March 8, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, at his home after a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1922, in Corinth, the son of Leonard and Gladys (Dodge) Marquis.

Will graduated from John Bapst High School and joined the U.S. Air Force during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He worked for Eastern Fine Paper for 19 years and was then self-employed as a contractor for more than 40 years. Will was an avid sportsman enjoying all New England sports teams. He loved gardening, and his family dearly. He had a quick wit and was heard saying frequently “where there is a ‘Will’ there is a way and there’s a ‘Will’ right here.” Will was very proud of this Franco-American heritage.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Marquis and his wife, Barbara, and Kim Marquis, all of Bangor; three daughters, Tanya Ford of Bangor and Virginia, Karen Marquis-Hanson of Hampden and George Hanson of Bucksport and Leanne and her husband, Dana LeClair, of Bangor; six grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Kate, Jared, Danielle and Alyssa; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, John; his brother, Alfred; and grandson, Mac.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor.
