CANTON, Conn. – Joseph George Michaud, 95, of North Mountain Road, husband of the late Lillian (Dubay) Michaud, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Apple Rehab, Avon, Conn. He was born March 15, 1916, in Caribou, son of the late Frank and Sophie Michaud, and had lived in Caribou prior to moving to Canton, Conn., more than 65 years ago.
Mr. Michaud was employed by Collins Co., Collinsville, Conn., from 1947 to 1966, and Superior Electric, Bristol, Conn., retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Collinsville, Conn., and was an associate member of Collinsville Fire Department.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. and Richard VandeBogart of Canton, Conn.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edmond G. and Johanna Michaud of Granby, Conn., Wilfred D. and Margaret Michaud of Alabama and Ralph L. and Elaine Michaud of Maine; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Michaud of Illinois; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Arther and Joan Michaud of Caribou, William and Jane Michaud of Presque Isle and Leonard Michaud of Hermon; three sisters, Leona Petroski of Enfield, Conn., Anna Quist of Auburn and Iva Sparks of Caribou; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Roy G. Michaud; two grandsons, Billy Joe and Roy; a sister, Alice Legasse; and two brothers, Guy Michaud and Alfred Michaud. The family thanks the staff at Apple Rehab of Avon for the loving and professional care they gave to Joe.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, Conn., where the funeral will be 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 14. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church, Collinsville, Conn. Burial will be afterward at Calvary Cemetery, Collinsville, Conn.
