WATERVILLE, Maine — A pair of men from Hancock County were arrested Tuesday in Waterville after they drunkenly entered an apartment and assaulted the female tenant, according to police.
Jeremy Eaton, 35, and Michael Robbins, 36, are facing charges of criminal trespassing and assault, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said Thursday.
Rumsey said the woman was cleaning her apartment and had left her door open when Eaton and Robbins, both of whom were intoxicated, entered the apartment.
“She told them to leave and they refused,” said Rumsey. “At one point in time, both of them touched her, which constituted the crime of assault.”
Rumsey said the woman wasn’t sexually harassed, but that the men were “being extremely forward with her and remaining in the apartment when she didn’t want them there.”
When police arrived, Robbins tried to leave the scene, earning him an additional count of refusing to submit to arrest, Rumsey said.
Both men were transported to the Kennebec County Jail, where Robbins’ bail was set at $750 cash and Eaton’s at $500 cash.

How terrifying for the victim.
I urge her to exercise her Second Amendment rights and purchase a handgun. Take a firearms safety course and take the necessary steps to obtain a concealed carry permit.
An armed citizen is a good citizen. Remember the young lady
in Oklahoma that exercised her second amendment rights and is alive today
because of it. I would also suggest that one does not leave their door open to
put one’s self in this type of situation to begin with.
Unless you are thouroughly prepared to defend yourself and your home !
I would hope that anyone who chooses to exercise their
second amendment rights and does keep a gun for self-protection gets the proper
training and is mentally prepared for the emotional consequences of taking another
person’s life.
You mean like the armed felons in Lamoine this week? Ya, that’s great.
No, like the millions of law abiding citizens across this
country do. I guess by your statement, anyone who has a gun for self-protection
is an armed felon. That would be a typical response from the extreme left as
they would like to make it just that, a crime to exercise your second amendment
rights.
Your comment is just ridiculous but thanks for playing.
I find this to be a typical response when someone, especially from the left does not have a good answer, they decide to take their ball and bat and go home because they don’t want to play anymore.
defend yourself with a butdah knive then, you have a problem with guns thats yours, you can call 911 and wait why they beat you then your choice .
That would be ‘butter knife’ and NOT everyone should have a gun, too many nuts have them. The state is really lax in their laws. Some of these guns are not for hunting and just what makes you think I don’t have one? Stop by about 4:30 am. :)
I know how to spell butter and as far as lax gun laws go to bad for you,ask the people of the domican republic who willing gave up their guns in the late 1950 they were being shot in the street before 1970 so before you run your mouth about guns you need a neducation (education)on the topic at hand.
It is haters like you that are the problem. Vigilantes and haters of anyone not like them. Never been to the DR and don’t plan to go as far as education, wench, I would blow you away. Poor redneck hater, I pity you. ;(
name calling and before i know youll be pointing your finger at me. so i do agree with gun laws fools like you dont need them and you can blow me
you are a redneck, “armed Felons” almost as bad as “uninformed fools” like you,ya YOU
I think maybe she had the door open because she was about to haul something to the dumpster. The cops showing up while these 2 drunks are still there makes me think a neighbor heard what was going on and called 911. But yes you have to be careful. Strange people sometimes wander the halls of apartment buildings.
I think that you are probably right, it did say that she was cleaning her apartment. We should all be aware of our surroundings at all times especially when living in an area with neighbors such as that.
I’ve known people who kept their apartment doors open in the daytime thinking it was safe because you needed a key to get into the building. All it takes is a bad guy finding a set of keys on the ground and testing them on the front door of apartment buildings in the area. I lived in one where the coin-op laundry machines got hit 3 times in one month before they caught the guy. The keys he had found opened the cast iron gate from the parking lot and the laundry room.
Like the old saying goes, locks keep honest people honest
and are only a minor inconvenience for those that are not.
and saved the life of her baby as well…
“Both men were transported to the Kennebec County Jail, where Robbins’ bail was set at $750 cash and Eaton’s at $500 cash.”
A slap in the face for the victim… Bail should be $5000.00 or higher!!!
Ridiculous. Why even bother? Let them out and they can invade a house and shoot someone like Lamoine. Slap doesn’t begin to describe it, not safe for women in this state. Realtors getting robbed, houses stripped of copper, scary stuff.
I do believe in the Lamoine case it was the invaders themselves that were shot.
Unbelievable!!!! I lived where these two lived and they have been in trouble with the law since they could walk and talk. So at the very least, they must be habitual by now. Wouldn’t that make the bail abit higher? It figures that these idiots will get off with the “slap on the wrist”, so they can go somewhere else and rob or assault somebody. Come on Maine judges, get a clue.
It will not change until we put pressure on our legislators
to overhaul our criminal justice system so that punishments begin to match
crimes and repeat offenders are given harsher punishments. Call, write or email
your Representative today and ask them to support changes to our criminal
justice system.
Rare, I agree with your thinking here.
What would the bail commissioner do if he didn’t get his cut because he’s set bail to high for these two neanderthals.
This is one dangerous state, eveyone has a gun, license or not. They found 40K of them on the streets of Boston, it is so easy to come here and get one. Now the moronic governor thinks he’s going to take more of my retirement to support the slackers in this state while he exempts his retirement and you put up with this? Insane
What does your retirement and Governor LePage have to do with this article? As far as this being a dangerous state, that is all the more reason to become a good citizen and arm yourself.
OOPS might have posted on the wrong page. I live in Lamoine, it’s crazy, they shoot guns everywhere. Surely they have to be a distance away. Your last ccomment is pure nonsense, what are you afraid of?
I am not afraid of anything. I like to make sure that I am
prepared to defend myself and my family if we are threatened. Considering what
we read in the paper everyday about the crime in this state that is mostly
fueled by drug addiction, I am willing to bet that there are more people than
ever that carry a weapon with them for the same reason. The law states that
neither I nor anyone else has a duty to retreat in the face of a threat and I
will not.
I’m in support of every home having a gun and everyone knowing that if they enter uninvited, they stand a chance of dying………….and you are so correct in that everyone has to be prepared to deal with the fact that they killed an intruder.
yes
Yes.
Did anyone consider rehab or stopping the flow of drugs into the state?
No state permit is required to purchase a rifle, shotgun, or handgun…as it should be.
No wonder out of staters come here to buy guns, I can’t believe they don’t need a permit. Please tell me the police do a background check? That’s just insane, every day there is a shooting in the paper.
She should have thrown a couple of beers out in the hall and when they went out to get them slam the door and lock it. Seriously though…that is very scarey.
Unfortunately semloh that doesn’t always happen as it is not a requirement. I agree – there is a lot of responsibility with ownership, not all understand or appreciate that. Wholeheartedly agree with the example you referenced regarding the woman protecting her child when men were attempting to break in to her house.
Based upon what is written in this article, it is unclear if the victim would have had the opportunity to retrieve her firearm and utilize it before these men were able to over-power her. If she did not, the presence of a weapon may have escalated matters for the worse for her.
I agree with your point about her being able to access the weapon in a timely manner and how it would have turned out if she lost control of a weapon.
