UNITY, Maine — Police responding to a 911 call late Saturday night ended up arresting a belligerent Unity man who allegedly pushed his girlfriend’s mother and her 11-year-old child.

Authorities also arrested the man’s girlfriend, who reportedly had made the emergency call in the first place.

Jason L. Brewster, 29, and Becky Mercure, 20, both of Albion Road in Unity, reportedly had been fighting before Mercure called for help at about 11 p.m., according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

When police arrived, they found Brewster to be “drunk and belligerent,” Trafton said. Officers took him into custody, but as they were doing so, Mercure also became upset and disorderly, he said.

“She started screaming and cursing at the police,” he said.

She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Brewster was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

Both were taken to the Waldo County Jail in Belfast.

  1. I really don’t know whats more entertaining. The fact that these type of incidents make the paper or the fact that “bangahrulzifindcrakthere” looked that close at the girls picture to make that quote or that he made me as well so i could figure his comment out………. lol

    1. These stories make the Police Beat-which has been part of most hometown newpapers for years. The “facts” are generated by law enforcement, technically quite different than what the rest of any paper should include. Stories that “make the paper” should be written by real reporters after some investigation and editing for accuracy.

      1. Your comment is even more entertaining then my own. I was simply saying that i found it amusing that someone paid enough attention to someone in a photograph to quote their shirt. Really had no other intent other then that, lol… Just needed to read between the lines i guess, will attempt to be clearer next time i jest :)

  2. It’s funny that the name of the town is “Unity”  .  Guess there was not a lot of unity going on Saturday night.

  3. Sad state of affairs, girls boyfriend causes a ruckus and he calls the cops. Sadder state still that she then causes such a ruckus that she’s locked up too. Girl you’ve got to let him go….walk away.

  4. Drunk and belligerent. Screaming and cursing. Arrested and charged. Taken to jail. Just another Saturday night in Unity, Maine located in peaceful Waldo County.
