CORINTH – Caytie Lyn “Angel” Welch, 16, passed away March 17, 2012, surrounded by her devoted family at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1995, in Bangor, granddaughter of Merritt and Ramona Welch; daughter of Karen Welch.

Caytie attended schools in SAD 64 and in Bangor, where she developed strong relationships with her teachers and therapists. At the age of 14, Caytie became a resident of the Elizabeth Levinson Center – ELC, Bangor. She easily transitioned there and quickly bonded with ELC’s loving staff and residents with the support of her longtime nurse and friend of 14 years, Pam Cartwright. Caytie liked to be in the center of activity, taking in the everyday hubbub of her large, loving family. She was always ready for an outing, her favorites being trips to the Bangor Mall, Borders and camping in Bar Harbor. Caytie particularly loved cheering on her favorite Boston sports teams with her Gram and Bub while lounging on her “cozy couch.” Caytie was such a special young lady. She deeply touched the hearts of all those around her.

Surviving in addition to her grandparents and mother are her brother, Zachary Welch-Enman; her sister, Kristie Welch and her fiance, Daniel Meservey, and niece, Amy Anne Meservey; her aunts and uncles, Kelley Skolfield, Kathy Welch, Mark and Sandy Welch, and Dot and Steve Fogg; her cousins, Benjamin and Brianna Skolfield, Jill Welch, Jake and wife, Katherine Welch, Bryon Fogg, Cory Fogg and fiancee, Kelsey Spiller, and Josh and wife, Amy Fogg, and daughter, Kadence Fogg. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Levinson Center and the pediatric intensive care unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center for providing Caytie with exceptional, loving care.

A private service of remembrance will be held by her family at a later date to be determined. Those who wish to remember Caytie in a special way may make contributions in her memory to the Caytie Welch-Angel Memorial Fund, established at Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, 500 Main St., P.O. Box 247, Corinth, ME 04427. The fund was set up with the hope of making future donations in Caytie’s name to the Levinson Center. For more information, contact Kathy Welch at welchk3@gmail.com.
