GRAND ISLE and MADAWASKA – Shirley Cyr, 75, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born Aug. 11, 1936, in Grand Isle, daughter of the late Abel and Madeline (Levesque) Beaulieu.
Shirley was a communicant of St. Gerard Church and was devoted to working in the church basement for funeral buffets. Sewing and knitting were some of her pastimes, but cooking was her favorite.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Thibodeau and her husband, Normand, of St. Basile, New Brunswick, and Tina Parent and her husband, Allen, of Madawaska; two sons, Richard Cyr and his wife, Diane, of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Mark Cyr of Grand Isle; six grandchildren, Daniel, Kim, Julie, Jenna, Remi and Kody; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Sabastian; two sisters, Marlene Lagasse and her husband, Norman, of St. David, and Rachel Cyr and her husband, Gerard, of Madawaska; and two brothers, Russell Beaulieu and his wife, Anne, and Gene Beaulieu and his wife, Dorina, all of Grand Isle. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Richard Cyr; and one brother, James Beaulieu.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle. Family and friends may offer their condolences to the immediate family 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
