BANGOR, Maine — The National Weather Service has issued a warning about high fire danger for portions of eastern and Down East Maine because of the dry conditions and strong winds.
The Red Flag Warning was issued by the NWS Caribou office Friday morning and is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
“With the very high fire danger and dry fuels, any grass or brush fires that ignite could spread and rapidly become out of control,” the NWS warns in its alert.
The warning covers central and southern Penobscot County, southern Piscataquis County and all of Hancock and Washington counties.
The forecast calls for northwest winds of 10-20 miles per hour with gusts of up to 35 mph.
The warning states that “a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures [in the 50s] will create explosive fire growth potential.”
It is a predicted result of the Global Warming theory isn’t it ?

Please, enlighten us poor fools. I promise to get rid of my SUV. I will no longer fly in a polluting jet airplane. I promise to renounce fossil fuels. I will only burn pellets for my heating, if that’s allowed. And for God’s sake, if you know of any polar bears floating around on a chunk of ice, please let me know and I’ll be there to help.
