BREWER, Maine — Two Brewer police officers were in the right place at the right time early Friday, as they were able to arrest a man for domestic violence assault, police said.

Cpl. Nelson Feero and Officer Kristie Bouchard were conducting a traffic stop on State Street just before 1 a.m. Friday and noticed a woman running down the road toward the officers, according to Cpl. Steve Boyd.

The woman reported to the officers that her live-in boyfriend, Justin Burgess, 29, had attacked her at their State Street apartment.

The victim subsequently led the officers to the scene, and after an investigation, Burgess was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, a Class D crime, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of bail conditions.

When police searched the apartment, a marijuana pipe and bottle of Jose Cuervo were found, Boyd said, noting Burgess’ bail conditions from a previous drug charge prohibited him from possessing alcohol or drugs.

Burgess was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Friday afternoon, according to a jail official. The woman was not injured, and Burgess faces up to a year in prison if convicted of the domestic violence assault charge.

  1. Women should do background checks on any man they are going to date. How many of these domestic stories refer to a guy that’s either out on parole or is violating his bail conditions?

    1. I would like to see a listing made available for all DMVs found guilty, for people to refer to- just like the one that lists people guilty for sex crimes

      1. Sad part is most people when facing a year in jail when they are not guilty will take a plea to get off with a $100 fine.

    2. Lol, like she didn’t know what this clown was all about? I bet she is still with him a month from now.

  2. 1800  instead of the Jose Cuervo would have qualified  old Justin to have the FBI arrest him.

  3. Everyone makes mistakes in discerning someone’s personality, as much as flagrant non-qualifying someone of either sex if they are really worth a risk to your health and safety.  But if your lifestyle accepts the environment this particular woman had at the time of the news report, and she apparently surrounded herself with a person whose temper and lifestyle got out of control, at least she made the right decision to get him out of her life – hopefully forever!

  4. They should make a list of women who have filed domestic violence complaints.. I’m thinking the same women call police all the time and claim abuse… This way men can stay away from women who set men up to get angry enough to defend themselves against these women.

    1. Have an uncle married to one!! She had done it before they got together and shes now done it to him a few times he never had a record of anything before but now he does cuz of her!
