OLD TOWN – Florence C. Dupuis, 90, passed away peacefully March 21, 2012. She was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Old Town, the daughter of Harry and Josephine (Seymour) Cote.
Florence grew up in Old Town and graduated from Old Town High School. She was an active member in the community, belonging to such organizations as Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Senior Citizen’s Club, Old Town, a member of Parish of the Resurrection and a member on a bowling league. She worked for 30 years as a treasurer/cashier at the University of Maine, Orono. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting – especially dish cloths, afghans and clothing for her grandkids, gardening, paying special attention to maintaining the flower box in her front yard.
Florence is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Sherburne and her husband, Kim, of Milford and Debbie Moores and her husband, Willie, of Londonderry, N.H.; five grandchildren, Brent Fournier and his wife, Darcie, Corey Fournier and his wife, Charity, Brian Fournier and his wife, Dawn, Renee Fournier and her fiance, Michael Day, and Sally Moores and her husband, Rob Foti; two stepgrandchildren, Cheryl Albert and her husband, Dwane, and Jessica Sherburne; 13 great-grandchildren, Stephen, Natalie, Kelsea, Cayden, Cayleigh, Jasmine, Aliyah, Marli, Connor, Parker, Liam, Tristen and Amelia; a sister, Rose Dupuis; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband, Albert Dupuis; two brothers, Clement and Clarence Cote; and two sisters, Alvina Cyr and Alice Dupuis.
To respect Florence’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Holy Family Church, 429 Main St., Old Town. All are invited to a light luncheon after the service at the parish hall. Interment will be in the spring at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
