ELLSWORTH, Maine — A Sullivan teen who had been reported missing by his family has been found safe, police said Sunday afternoon.

Family of Tyler Riley, 17, contacted police over the weekend because he had not been seen since Friday evening.

Deputy Luke Gross with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday afternoon that Riley had apparently been staying with a friend in the Washington County town of Addison, unbeknownst to family members.

Riley is now back with his parents, Gross said.

  1.  BDN: You really should look at the juxtaposition of your pictures and articles with your current formatting program. You have this young man’s face right next to a story headline that reads:  Man sought in Stonington home invasion, assault on 60 year old woman.

  2. 17 years old??? Why didn’t he tell anyone where he was going? Obviously his parents care about him to report him missing. I would ground him and take everything away from him for 10 years!!!!! Ok prob a week! Kids theses days!

  3. Glad he made it home safe and sound! However the fact he was at a friends house and did not tell his obviously worried parents he should be grounded until this kid’s grand children graduate. I don’t believe in slapping children but I must say I would sure think about it. I can’t imagine that he would be so thoughtless! I am sure he saw the news and the picture of his face in the paper and did not care enough about his family to let them know he was alright. Things sure change. There was a time in this life when children respected their parents, and no matter if we liked what they said or did we respected them regardless. We did not have cell phones either. And I am sure we all got a little skyte on the tucus once in awhile. As for the BDN making another mistake with somebodies picture it’s not the first time! I sent in a correction on a photo of a Mars Hill Man being indicted for solicitation of murder and they had another man’s face who was indicted for something else next to the story. Sure his lawyer’s are all over that one. If they can’t find it in themselves to hire somebody that does a better job than that they should be fired! Mistakes like that one and this one are going to come back and chomp em hard

    1. What is up with the other kids parents? If I went to a friends house, their parents made me call my parents and tell them where I was or I went home. No questions asked. Just call my parents and let them know where I was and that I was safe. PERIOD! End of discussion.
