BANGOR and MADAWASKA LAKE – Claudette Mary Martin died March 18, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Claude and Ida Martin.

Upon graduation from high school she enlisted in the U.S. Army, spending most her time in Army installations in Virginia. Subsequent to an honorable discharge, she remained in the northern Virginia area and was employed in secretarial and office management positions. She later migrated to the West Virginia area where she was co-owner of a small pizza parlor. Later she was employed by a large coal mining company and retired in 2002, then settled at Madawaska Lake. Claudette was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast. She loved her dogs, and enjoyed horseback riding and kayaking.

She is survived by one sister, Sandra and her husband, Richard Pelletier; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Reynold Martin.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no viewing hours. Family will greet friends one hour before services at the church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Stockholm, with the Rev. James Albert officiating. Those who wish may make donations in Claudette’s memory to Hospice of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736. Arrangements are a service of Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
