ORONO, Maine — A man in shorts and a T-shirt running down Main Street carrying what appeared to be signs late Friday night caught the attention of police, who stopped him and arrested him for theft, Orono police Capt. Josh Ewing said Monday.

“He was running away from the Bear Brew [Pub],” the police captain said.

Lucas Kronlung, 20, of Alfred was stopped at around 11:10 p.m. He had two bar mats, both printed with alcohol advertising, in his hands that he had taken from the second floor of the local bar, Ewing said.

He was charged with theft and taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.

Kronlung was later released, Ewing said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

  1.  Was alcohol involved??
      Let me guess……
He was out on probation/bail from a previous stunt , right ??

    1.  When I went to UMaine I heard rumors that they did serve under age students and a place up the street called Thriftway also sold liquor to minors. I regret ever going to the University of Maine. Big waste of time. I never graduated from there and that place was a horrible influence on me. You can even look up an article from 2010 in the BDN about how UMaine received a failing grade for University standards. That article speaks for itself.

      1.  Not much. UMaine got a Failing “F” grade (across the board) by a conservative think tank in 2010. I used to go there. It was nothing but one huge party school with obnoxious students, mostly from out of state that come here to party. Heck even as far back as the 1980s Rolling Stone magazine ranked UMaine-Orono as one of the top 10 Party Schools in the US.

    1.  Good question. Maybe he was one of the out of state rich kids that UMaine and the locals give special privileges too. All about $$$

    2. Perhaps he was not drinking.  Unless they go 21+ at a certain time of night on the weekends or something, they are not 21+ all the time.  I’ve been there 6-7-8ish on weeknights and seen people with kids eating there.

  2. Funny thing is, Bars usually get those things for free from the liquor distributor.  Free advertising.  What a score…err…almost a score.
