WATERVILLE, Maine — A man who walked into a CVS pharmacy on Sunday afternoon and made off with an unknown amount of oxycodone pills is still at large, Waterville Police Chief Joseph Massey said on Monday.

Massey said the robber walked into the CVS pharmacy on Kennedy Memorial Drive around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. He walked up to the pharmacy window and handed a note to the pharmacy technician. The note said he had a gun and that he wanted oxycodone pills. Massey said the pharmacy tech handed the note to the pharmacists, who then gave the suspect an unknown amount of pills.

“It didn’t take long to transpire and he never showed the weapon,” Massey said. “He left on foot and no one noticed if he got in a car.”

The robber appeared to be a male in his early 20s, Massey said. He was about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed between 130 and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing tan khaki pants, a hoodie and black curly wig covered with a stocking cap.

“We’re investigating it and we’re trying to track down every bit of information,” Massey said.

Massey cautioned other pharmacies that the trend of robberies is likely to continue.

“I don’t see it stopping in the near future or decreasing,” Massey said. “It wouldn’t be surprising if they continued to increase. Illegal diversion of prescription drugs is an epidemic. It’s ridiculous.

“I would just caution pharmacies to make sure if they have any safety protocol to review those with the staff and be on alert,” he added.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Waterville Police Department at 872-5551.

  1. this is a once a week thing lately i guess its time to have better security sad but true.. the robbers do not even seem to care about cash just drugs

          1.  Dimes, eightballs , teenths , elbows…..
What is up with these druggies??
What ever happened to the good old Six-Pack ??

  2. How may pharmacies have been robbed in the last year?  Yet medical marijuana has to be dispensed from a stand alone structure with all the ridiculous regulations and security.  HELLO people…

    1.  In some Asian countries there are bullet proof barriers that slam  shut within seconds and trap the robber inside. Wish we had stuff like that. Or knock out gas. But of course we live in the USA in which the criminals have more rights to sue than the victims.

  3. Why is it so hard to stop this kind of crime? All they need to do is make up some high strength laxatives to look like Oxys. When the robber demands all your Oxys, you cooperate and give them the special bottles. When they show up at the ER with what little brains they have hanging from their rectum, give them some more “Oxys” and send them home. Problem solved. Deterrent is only effective if it leaves a mark. Next dilemma?

  4. So why do all these companies spend money on crappy surveillance cameras that only capture blurry images? I mean most these robbers don’t even need to really hide their face except from eye witnesses. LOL I’ve seen better cam footage on cell phones. ha ha ha
