CHESTER – Colleen L. Ireland, 85, passed away March 25, 2012, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Chester, daughter of Arthur and Bernice (Nichols) Ireland.
Colleen was a member of Chester Baptist Church. She loved to knit, and made several hats for the service people. She was a very, witty lady.
She is survived by her only niece, Nadia Drinkwater and her husband, Roland; three great-nephews and their families, Roland Drinkwater and Peggy, Eric Drinkwater and Melissa, and Scott Drinkwater and Adria; eight great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; a daughter-at-heart, Bonita Cox; a close friend, Nancy Archer; as well as her church family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Fern Tilton.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Chester Baptist Church with a dear friend, William Chesley officiating. Interment will be later in the spring at Lincoln Center Cemetery.
