UNION – Josephine D. Barrett, 91, died peacefully Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Pen Bay Medical Center, Rockport. Born Feb. 8, 1921, in Perry, she was the daughter of Carrie Aylward.

Educated locally, she was a 1939 graduate of Pembroke High School. She later studied nursing and became a certified nurse’s aide. For several years she was employed at Shore Village Nursing Home and later at Knox Center for Long Term Care. Josephine retired at age 62. Josephine enjoyed photography and was an accomplished photographer. She was a 50-year member of Pembroke Grange No. 245.

She was predeceased by her husband, Granville A. Barrett; son, Charles A. Barrett; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Barrett. Josephine is survived by a son, Keith E. Barrett and his companion, Marlene Jones; four grandchildren, Jason Barrett and his wife, Krista, of Fort Riley, Kan., Jacob Barrett and his wife, Suzanne, of Trescott, Cheri Haskell of Cushing and Tina Barrett of Rockland; four great-grandchildren, Tristan, Harley, Kari and Shelden; and one great-great-grandson, Kael.
