LINCOLN – John Scott Heald, 47, passed away unexpectedly March 26, 2012, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1964, in Portland, the son of Robert and Connie (Lewis) Heald.

John was a wonderful man. A caring person with a big heart, he was a special son and brother, a dear dad and friend. John’s concern for the well-being of others led him to become a firefighter and emergency medical technician for several years. John enjoyed hiking with his brother, the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees and Boston Celtics.

In addition to his father, Robert Heald of Portland and his mother, Connie Stockford of Wiscasset, he is survived by his daughter, Sarah Heald of Mattawamkeag; his loving companion and soulmate, Penny Haynes and her children, Samantha, Josh and Nick, Jeremy and his girlfriend, Crystal; granddaughters, Lilly and Kyla; three siblings, Chris Heald and his partner, Jesse, Vicki DeLong and her partner, Rodney, and Bill Reynolds and his wife, Jenny; nieces and nephews, Blake and Nick Miller, Josh, Nick and Megan DeLong and AnnElise and Ava Reynolds; his best friend, Adam Lyons; and his loyal boxer, Molly. He also leaves his extended family, the Pelkeys, who loved him as one of their own. He will be missed by all his dear friends at Johnston Dandy Co., where he worked for more than 20 years.
