BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine — Police are searching for a Wiscasset man who failed to appear for sentencing Thursday in connection to a Class B theft in Boothbay Harbor in August 2010.

Boothbay Harbor Patrol Officer Jared Mitkus said Drew Bibber, 20, whose last known address was 37B Ward Brook Road in Wiscasset, is wanted for failure to appear for his sentencing and violation of conditions of release. Mitkus said Bibber initially was charged with burglary and theft for an incident at Enchantments, a boutique retailer in Boothbay Harbor, but was convicted last year of only the theft charge.

Bibber was one of a trio of suspects who stole a large number of items from the boutique and then drove toward the Detroit, Mich., area trying to sell the items along the way. Also convicted of theft in the case was Richard Malady of Freedom, who awaits sentencing.

According to Mitkus, Malady is a former employee of Enchantments.

A female who was driving during the incident also has been convicted of misdemeanor charges.

Bibber did not appear in Wiscasset District Court at 1 p.m. Thursday, said Mitkus. As a result Bibber is the subject of an arrest warrant which stipulates that he can be extradited to Maine from anywhere in the United States. He is known to frequent Bath and Wiscasset as well as the Detroit area.

Mitkus asked anyone with information about Bibber’s whereabouts to call the Police Department at 633-5616 or 633-2451.

  1. Didnt appear for sentencing ??
NO !!!!  You dont say !!
Why wasnt this thief under lock and key until sentencing??
Who is the lunatic that let him walk out of  the courtroom
    in the first place??
    Shhheeeesshhh.

  2. What a smartie, its in his best interest to just turn himself in. If he went to California, Texas, New York, doesn’t matter. If the cops find him he’s gunna have to eventually have to do some jail time.

I wouldn’t wanna be constantly looking over my shoulder. Turn yourself in! Get it over with.

    1. This guy is small potatoes.  Many people come to Maine that are wanted in other states and collect of Maine.  Short of killing someone most are never sent back. If he leaves the state and never comes back at least we have one less problem here.

  3. If he was selling this stuff all the way to Michigan, they should’ve known he was a flight risk.   Why wasn’t he sentenced the day of conviction? It’s not like this case needed a 20 page decision.

  4. Be on the lookout for this desperate hombre.  He may be armed…with loaded items from a…”BOUTIQUE?????????”   Bwa-hahahahahaha!

  5. Yes, you can tell just how upset he is over being in jail, the poor thing is so broke up, my heart goes out to him, once he gets back to jail, I think I’ll put money on his books!!!  Wait, what am I thinking, Look at this punk, a real piece of work. I hope the judge throws him in jail with no bail, and we just keep him there, we don’t need him back out any time soon. I can’t wait till the first time he has to call his cell mate “daddy”!
