FORT KENT, Maine — The Bishop of Portland has assigned a new priest to temporarily lead a Fort Kent parish while the regular pastor is under investigation by authorities.
Bishop Richard Malone on Wednesday assigned the Rev. Robert Vaillancourt to serve as temporary administrator at St. John Vianney Parish after the Rev. James Nadeau took a voluntary leave of absence pending an investigation by the state attorney general’s office.
Neither the diocese nor the attorney general has disclosed the reason for the investigation.
The 58-year-old Vaillancourt was born in Lewiston and was ordained in 1982.
The parish is made up of four churches.

Pray tell, Bill, who else is investigating besides the authorities? With your insinuations, it appears that you have a dog in this fight. What will you say if it turns out the priest is not being investigated for “the abominable sin”? Can we count on you coming back and erasing all your posts where you cast aspersions? Or will silence be your answer? That would make all your posts read like the babble we get from the apologists from the Tea Partyists should you be shown to have jumped the gun.
Perhaps a better tact would be to await information from the AGs office, then you can crow if it proves your suspicions are correct.
Oh Bill….won’t you be so disappointed when you find out what he is being investigated for lol!!!
Yes, I just found out. An illegal campaign contribution to John “Ballotgate” Martin.
Wow Bill…..how did you find out????? AMAZING that you could know so much.
Wow i cant believe the things that you write!!! You certainitely are a little on the wackadoodle side mr. Bill! You can go ahead and flag my comment again so that it gets deleted again. The truth must hurt. You really shouldnt forget to take ur meds!!! Cuckooo!!! R really r nuts!
For the first time since I started reading your comments I truly hope you are correct…
I want proof.
I want proof. You have made these statements without any proof,
This is slander and you should be arrested for it.
I get slandered every day like everyone else in America who dares to exercise their freedom of speech. Should I also sue those who slander me?
You clearly don’t understand what slander isslan·der
[slan-der] Show IPA noun 1. defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander. 2. a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name. Just because you claim to be slandered doesn’t make it right for you to slander others,You still have yet to provide any proof for any of your previous statements.
I’m still waiting for your proof.
Hey Bill! Have you heard?? The AG confirmed allegations are not of sexual nature. You do owe Fr. an apology!
father nadeau is a great priest. always willing to help his fellow flock. He would never do anything to harm a human being. Also nobody knows what he is being investigated for. So why don’t u stop slandering a man u don’t even know. His parish doesn’t even know what he is being investigated for, people who truely believe in him. People don’t need to be so hateful. I lost a son to a tradgic accidentand it was the same slander I got about my parenting. Get the facts before saying hateful things. It would be the right thing to do. Don’t pass Judgement it isn’t ur place.
