OLD TOWN, Maine — An Old Town man was arrested after he pushed a female to the ground during a drunken argument, according to police.
Corey Carr, 35, and the woman left a local bar on Main Street early Friday and were “involved in some sort of argument,” according to Old Town police Sgt. Scott Casey.
The argument escalated, and when the woman tried to call police Carr knocked her to the pavement, Casey said.
“He was able to get the phone away to keep her from calling for help,” Casey said.
Officer Christine McAvoy caught up with Carr near the Indian Island bridge and arrested him. Carr was charged with obstructing a report of a crime and domestic violence assault, Casey said.
He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail, Casey said. The woman was not injured.

Aren’t ya glad alcohol is perfectly legal and the evil demon weed cannabis is forbidden?
Tom, you are wrong! pot is the evil doer of america! : )
People get drunk and go to jail OK??? Why aren’t we taxing Booze a $1 a bottle for beer and other spirits… To pay for the people who drink and go to Jail…
WHY DO THEY CALL IT SPIRITS???
I’m scared by the photo for the, “Old Town man stabs girlfriend with barbecue skewer, police say” story.
I find it strikingly odd was not writen by me but thank you to the writer
Your all wrong. Cannabis is the lesser of the two evil; however, one is for now illegal and the other…. Well anyway I am the 35 year old Old Town man whom this article is refers to. The sad part of this whole thing is you may or may not read on this page is the retractment of this article. I was put in jail when I never should have been and released by 8:30 on bail and by Noon the same day ALL charges were droped by the DA’s office. Nice job to OT.P.D and the BDN for both doing such unjust BS. Well who can blame the BDN they put this crap out about people at there worst and you people buy this junk right up!
I find it strikingly odd, a news establishment is so quick to jump on the band wagon when the bottom line stands to gain a profit from reporting alledged acts prior to finding out the actual facts. The charges on Mr. Carr were dropped within twelve hours due to the incompetence and zeolous acts of the Old Town police department. I believe the BDN should investigate those facts and perhaps run a story on the compiling civic and constitutional rights violations perpetuating from an over zeolous police department whom has lost site of upholding the laws but carrying out a form of societal segregative justice they deem proper. If they have to get out of thier car, you can almost guaruantee someone is getting a summons or going to jail, only for the trumped up charges to be suddenly reduced to a lower charge and a fine imposed to feed the revenue machine we now have to look upon as our legal system. Report upon these sad times. Report the facts of how our liberties are being systematically stripped away as we allow the legal system to inch further into our everyday actions. A country crying out to stop bullys, and yet it seems the biggest bullys are those who should be leading by example.
Hmmm….I see a lawsuit for Mr. Carr. BDN needs to get ALL the facts before putting out an article such as this. Can you say “defamation of charactor”?? Thanks to Corey E. for speaking so eloquently for my friend, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Slow news day…
Duh…Hi Corey :] You tell em, my friend!
Did not a member of the clergy throw himself from a bridge and to his death over a story printed in this liberal rag? All charges were dropped in this case before the ink was dry! I guess Ryan McLaughlin was behind in his quota and needed this story.
Corey, we appreciate the addendum’s to the article in the comments you made, but if the charges were dropped, is it probable the woman did not decide to pursue charges against you? If so, the report should have included this, and the OTPD should have released that information to the News. Nevertheless, Corey, not to embarrass anyone or you here, but there was one item that was unmentioned in the report and that was if you were in a vehicle or on foot near the bridge when the cops caught you. In any case, your actions represent a person who was mad as hell at this woman. What happened?
To those who are discussing “The Evildoer”, like guns, people use them. People have choices. Get the drift?
