ELLSWORTH, Maine — Two Tremont men are facing charges from separate incidents in which they recently were caught allegedly selling drugs, according to police.
In a statement released Friday by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, police indicated they arrested Cary Harper, 37, of Tremont and Massachusetts on March 22. The arrest came at the end of an investigation that began in late 2011, police indicated. Harper is accused of selling oxycodone to informants who were acting under the control and direction of MDEA officers.
MDEA also indicated, without specifying a date, that it arrested Brennan Spofford, 32, of Tremont on a charge of illegal trafficking in heroin. Spofford also is accused of selling heroin to informants who were acting under the control and direction of MDEA agents.
It was not clear from the statement where Harper and Spofford were arrested or how much of the drugs each man is accused of selling.
Harper and Spofford each are facing class B offenses, which are punishable by fines of up to $20,000 and up to 10 years in prison. They are scheduled to be arraigned May 25 in Hancock County Superior Court in Ellsworth, police indicated.

I love to see the the people who are dealing in drugs (that are killing people) get BUSTED !!!!
Yes, I know they will be back on the streets doing the same thing, in no time flat. Lets hope they spend a good while in prison. What are the chances?!!!
Most people who sell narcotics are only trying to feed their own habit… I would rather them do that than rob and steal.
Yes. Supply and demand. I agree with you about feeding their own habits. It doesn’t make it alright for them to sell very addicting drugs to others. When they sell these drugs “to support their own habit” and someone overdoses they become killers. That’s NOT OK. Unfortunately, those left behind suffer the loss of that person and have to live the rest of their lives with a broken heart.
How come when a person is prescribed medicine by a doctor and said person overdoses the doctor is not charged? It is the persons own fault for using the drugs in the wrong way. There needs to be full legalization of all drugs and people should be taught how to use the drug properly. it won’t be long until Big Pharma are making recreational drugs for all of us to enjoy.
Yes it is your fault
Too bad MDEA didn’t search Pocahontas while they were in town.
Or the other boat he uses – Foxy Lady.
that will narrow it down a little for um!!
two down, next week there will be two more to replace um. its un endless cycle.
