Millicent cherished every moment with her late and loving husband, Harold; children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family and close friends. She loved each one of them dearly. Many members of her family will remember Millicent and Harold for shaping their lives, by showing true inspiration and unconditional love. They remember days at her home – her favorite place to be in Machiasport, where she cared for many of them as they grew up. Millicent always thought about everyone else’s wants and needs before her own. She was truly an inspiration to so many for her faith in Jesus Christ and her devotion to her family. She was a caretaker at heart and deeply loved her family. She showed that love in every possible way. She’s known for keeping her home spotless, and for her exceptional cooking, including homemade doughnuts and baked goodies. She was a lifelong member of Machias Valley Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher there for several years. She led a ladies prayer meeting in her home for years.

She is survived by loving daughter, Lorraine (Wood) and husband, Richard Stanhope; son, Wayne M. Wood Sr., all of Machiasport; grandchildren, Debbie and Eddie Longfellow, Barbie and Gerald Cates, Gina and Carey Huffman, Richard Stanhope, Wayne Jr. and Jen Wood, Jasen and Lori Wood, Heather Wood, and Rickey Fagonde; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Beckie Longfellow, Matthew Longfellow, Chris and Tim Cates, Emily, Megan and Aaron Huffman, Ryan Stanhope, Cody and Logan Wood, Keeli, Kyle, Kasey and Kaden Wood; two great-great-granddaughters, Kennedy Julianna Cates and Adrianna Millicent Longfellow; along with many nieces and nephews, too many to name, who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Mig.” Millicent is also survived by siblings, Jeanine Kelley and Bill and Nedra Libby; sister-in-law, Marguerite Wood; and special neighbor and dear friend, Donna Allen. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Harold Wood; parents; and siblings, Muriel Stanhope, Gladys Libby, Margaret and Maurice Guptill.
