BAR HARBOR, Maine — More than a 1,000 Mount Desert Island residents lost electrical power Wednesday morning due to malfunctioning equipment at a power substation.
A statement sent out Wednesday morning by Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. said 1,809 customers in Bar Harbor and Mount Desert were affected by the outage, which was reported around 9:30 a.m.
Susan Faloon, spokeswoman for Bangor Hydro, said Wednesday afternoon that power was restored to all affected customers by about 11 a.m. The power station where the malfunction occurred is on the corner of Knox and Gilbert Farms roads in Bar Harbor, she said.
Customers can report outages by calling 800-440-1111 or can get additional information at the company’s website, bangorhydro.com.

which is it–1,000 (headline) or 1,800 (story) ?? that’s a BIG difference,especially if you’re one of those 800 people…
yeah, that’s a really important point, especially 3 hours after power is restored.
maybe it was 1000 on MDI, as the headline states , and the other 800 were in Bar Harbor
