BRADFORD – Stanley L. Wade, 87, passed away April 11, 2012, with family by his side at a Bangor nursing home. Stanley was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Bradford, son of Arthur and Lena (Randall) Wade.

Stanley worked as a woodsman, on the railroad, at several factories around central Maine, and retired in 1988 from Page’s Lumber Co., Corinth. He was proud to be a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stanley loved camping, picnics, looking at the boats at the coast, and gathering with friends and family. He had a routine of his day at home. First thing on the agenda was to read the newspaper with breakfast and then he would start his day. He always loved to have his yard clean and neat, and would get anxious if the lawn wasn’t mowed weekly. He had a work ethic that was all his own. If the sun was still up then there was still work to be done.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Phoebe M. Wade, he is survived by two daughters, Sherry and husband, John Fletcher Sr., of Kenduskeag, and Donna and husband, Arthur Fletcher Sr., of Kenduskeag; three grandchildren, April and husband, Phil Jones, of Orneville, John Fletcher II and wife, Mallory, of Bradford, and Richard McClure Jr. and Crystal Kingsbury of Bradford; and four great-grandchildren, Jamie and Brandon Jones, Meriah and Merina Kingsbury. Stanley was predeceased by two brothers, Chester and Lawrence; and two sisters, Florence and Ruth. Stanley will be dearly missed by his cat, Charlie. Stanley’s family thanks the nursing staff at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation as well as St. Joseph Hospice for their excellent care and support.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Williams Cemetery, Bradford, with the Rev. Donald Booker, pastor of Bradford Baptist Church, officiating. Those who wish to remember Stanley in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 383 U.S. Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074. Arrangements by Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at
