BANGOR, Maine — A local man was arrested early Wednesday after he threatened staff at a methadone clinic, according to police.
Jason Gilbert, 39, of Bangor had gone to the Penobscot County Metro Treatment Facility on Hogan Road when staff told him to leave the property, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.
The sergeant said staff at the clinic had confronted Gilbert about an incident on Saturday in which he received methadone treatments and made himself sick to provide another client with the dose he had ingested.
When staff confronted Gilbert, he grew agitated, according to Edwards, and made threatening statements, forcing staff to call police.
Officer Steve Pelletier arrived and quickly arrested Gilbert and charged him with terrorizing, a Class D misdemeanor.
Gilbert was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail, according to a jail official.

Does this mean he regurgitated his dose into another persons mouth so they could have his dose? What a charitable aristocrat!
Ewww regurgitated drugs.
Sounds yummy!!
Not!
A little Jagermeister will wash it right down…
Drug addicts don’t care if you pull them out your butt!! Sad addictions and only getting worse. There is so much money to be made with drugs and wars. We will never see it end.
OK..thats a new low. Puking up your dose and selling it or giving it to another doper? WOW.
Addiction is insidious and can be gross…………….no different that someone sharing or selling any other Rx meds
Yet everyone freaks out about a pot dispensary.
I’m not
YUM YUM.
Second hand methadone.
Methadone is to get folks off of that highly addictive, schedule 1 drug, -tetrahydrocannabinol, right? If it is not approved by the U.S. FDA, for the love of God, don’t ingest it. There is absolutely no way of knowing what is safe, without the FDA’s approval.
Uh….no. The drug YOU are referring to is POT. Methadone is NOT for getting people off the “highly addictive” pot. It is for OPIOID addiction–you know, opioids, like Vicodin, Oxycontin, Morphine, Heroin, etc.
Sorry, I was being facetious. You are new here? I know a plant from a chemist concoction.
Yes, I am new here, sorry.
Um, take a look at what the FDA call safe ……….if they make money off it, they will call it safe. Look at all the food that people ingest…………NOT all safe, but approved. Little Debbie’s will pay FDA millions to label anything safe to consume. Don’t trust the FDA…………anymore.
Um may refer to:
Um, an exclamation or filled pause in spoken conversation. Um (Korean name) .um, the Top Level Domain for United States Minor Outlying Islands. Um for micrometre, sometimes written instead of the proper symbol µm in a limited character set. -Um-, an infix in many Austronesian languages. Um interface, the air interface for the GSM mobile telephone standard.
Other then that, I think you take my point.
Regurgitated methadone would certainly be preferable than anything concealed in other body cavities.
True………………if it was a pill, the person that was recieving the diverted drug would have no clue where the drug might have been “secreted” from, now would they?
I guess he won’t receive any more methadone at that clinic.
Yeah right. They’ll continue to give it to him and we tax payers will continue to support him; pay for his mileage to get to the clinic; pay for his food and health care, and all the rest.
I am so tired of paying for the low lives who continue to use drugs when they are supposedly being treated. He’s obviously still on drugs, just look at his eyes.
Why not go through a withdrawal and stay off drugs all together?
Get down off your high horse. “I’m so tired of paying……..” Once your taxes are taken out of your paycheck………..they aren’t YOURS! So continue to work, pay taxes and hopefully this country does’t go down the flush any too soon!! It’s all part of taking care of this country……….addicts and “low lives” deserve food and shelter.
I understand what you’re saying……………….but how about we focus on the millions that our government steals from all the working class, this is much MORE than the poor and the drug addicts. Studies have proven this. The rich/ government want the focus on the poor so that it’s not on them. They have succeeded with you.
Hear hear!
I’ll be on “my high horse” all I want. The money that is taken out of my paycheck is money that I have EARNED by working. It doesn’t just appear.
I am fine with helping out people who need a little assistance. I am NOT ok with helping drug addicts milk the system. There are a few people who use the system correctly and are truly trying to get clean, get/keep jobs, etc. Then there are the ones who say they are traveling 60 miles one way so they can get $ for traveling- when they are actually only traveling about 10 miles. That is what I am tired of paying for.
So addicts deserve shelter? Or do they need to earn it? There’s a big difference.
Nope………….keeping a dangerous and unstable patient is illegal and no clinic will take that gamble.
Lets shut all these clinics down and get them the therapy they need.
That would be great if therapy worked for addiction but it doesn’t, especially not for opiate addiction. The success rate of treatments using only therapy is pathetically low. Methadone maintenance doesn’t work for everyone either but the success rates are significantly higher. At this time methadone maintenance treatment is the most effective treatment method for opiate addiction.
Please keep in mind that Jason Gilbert and his actions are not typical or representative of methadone patients.
My tax dollars paying to keep people addicted to drugs (albeit now regulated in the form of methodone).
lets just take a few people off their antipsychotics and see what happens.
Much agreed with your posting
Research statistics shows that opiate addiction is rarely successfully treated by counseling/therapy alone; the best results are with medication AND counseling.
…..look at those eyes. The the safety and well being of mankind, give him a dose.
for the safety and well being of mankind, he was denied his dose.
Wow……..his picture clearly shows drug addictions!!
perhaps a co-occuring disorder
Bangor Daily News seem to be overly interested in issues surrounding methadone. I know of no other paper that write articles about methadone as often as the Daily News. It makes you wonder what their agenda is. I bet had this altercation and arrest happened at any other place than a methadone clinic it would never even be mentioned in the paper. Altercations with angry customers happen all the time in all sorts of businesses. According to my experience trouble with customers is much more common at gas stations and convenience stores than methadone clinics, not to mention bars. Yet nobody ever writes stories about that or call for those businesses to be shut down.
Yes, the BDS is obesssed with negative stories aobut methadone treatment. That’s what sells papers is negativity. People love dirt.
