VAN BUREN – Claude J. Lajoie, 93, died April 13, 2012, at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born April 30, 1918, in Cyr Plantation, the son of Michel and Methaide (Vaillancourt) Lajoie.

He served proudly with the U.S. Army during World War II with the 802nd Military Police Battalion and was a member of American Legion Post No. 49, Van Buren. Claude worked for Potato Service, Inc. as a processor for many years.

He is survived by three sons, Claude Lajoie Jr. and wife, Linda, of Cocoa, Fla., Kenneth Lajoie and wife, Vickie, of Bath and James Lajoie of Tolland, Conn.; six daughters, Eileen Levesque and her husband, Ivan, Claudette Grivois and her husband, Nelson, Nancy Duplessis, Sandra Cyr and her husband, Guildo, all of Van Buren, Joan Theriault and her husband, Alyre, of Siegas, New Brunswick, and Freda Levesque and her husband, Alan, of Vernon, Conn.; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (St. Pierre) Lajoie; by a daughter, Ann Marie Tenny; and by a grandson, Mark Theriault.

Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be later this spring at the parish cemetery.
