SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Edna Francis Savage died April 18, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Southwest Harbor.
She was born March 15, 1924, in Machiasport, to Charles and Laura (Randall) Gatley.
In her younger years she drove a school bus, and when the textile mill came to Machias she was one of the first ones hired and worked there until they closed 33 years later.
She then lived in Winter Harbor for seven years taking care of Junior Blevins. Edna was very fond of Christmas and playing Beano.
She is survived by her son, David Savage and his wife, Lana, and their children, Gina, Michael and Brett; her daughter, Maxine Carroll and her husband, Jim, and their children, Wendy, Wanda, John, Jay and Jennifer; her sister, Celia Ward and her family; a special niece, Pat Swenson and her husband, Jim, and their family; a daughter-in-law, Dayle Savage and her son, Bobby; a son-in-law, Lee Guptill and his family, Charlie, Darrell and Brenda; Charlie’s son, Gene; sister-in-law, Louise Gatley and family; and special friends, John and Robert Blevins. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, George Savage; her stepdaughter, Doris Guptill and her children, Butch and Gail; stepson, Clayton and children, Cheryl and Gerald; sister, Margaret and husband, Roy Griffin; brother-in-law, Sheldon Ward; and son, Greg; and her parents, Charles and Laura Gatley.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Eastside Cemetery, Machiasport. Memorial donations may be made to Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias.
