WEST TREMONT – Our precious loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marion Farley passed away peacefully April 13, 2012. She was born Feb. 16, 1919, in West Tremont, to Bessie E. Black Davis and Joseph Everett Black.
She is survived by her three loving daughters, Priscilla Harper, Lucille Walton, and Nancy Tracy and husband, Lee Tracy; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.
She married Kenneth P. Farley in August 1936, a marriage that lasted 70 years until he passed away in May 2007. Marion worked in the sardine factory starting at age 15 to help support her mother, Bessie; sister, Mertice; and brother, Clayton. The sardine factory is where she would work throughout her lifetime. She also spent many enjoyable hours cooking for her family, sewing and creating beautiful embroidery. One of her favorite pastimes was feeding and watching the area birds. The red cardinal was one of her favorites. Marion was a generous grandmother who always found time to remember the children in the family on their birthdays and during the holidays. She enjoyed reading the daily newspapers and keeping up with all the family activities. The family is grateful to her daughters for providing in home care to her for the past five years. She can rest now in God’s loving care and have the peace she longed for. We will love you and miss you always. We will hold you in our memories and our hearts forever.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. April 28 at Hillrest Cemetery, West Tremont. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to Tremont/Southwest Harbor Ambulance Service would be appreciated.
