SKOWHEGAN – Theresa Madore, 81, died April 21, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 14, 1930, in Lille, daughter of Medley and Ozithee (Chasse) Collin, and was the youngest of eight children.

She moved to Skowhegan in 1950 and worked at Medwed Shoe Factory for nearly 20 years. She married Norman Madore, in November 1951, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church. He died in June 1986.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Aurelle, Emile and Leonil; four sisters, Martha Belanger, Rose Lynch, Imelda Therrien and Irene Anderson; half brother, Edmund; and two half sisters, Leona and Cecile Audibert. She had three sons, who died at birth, Donald, Daniel and David. Theresa is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Karen and Norman Fournier of Canaan, Debra Madore-McLeod and Scott McLeod of Venice, Fla., Marsha Madore and James Bausman of Greenville, S.C., and Patricia and Gary Ristesund of Montrose, S.D.; four granddaughters, Stephanie Graff, Ashley Erickson, Marsha Ristesund and Christina “CJ” Ristesund, all of South Dakota; one grandson, Justin Fournier of Old Town; three, soon-to-be five, great-grandchildren, Riley, Madeline and Bennet Graff; three sisters-in-law in the St. John Valley of Aroostook County; many nieces and nephews. Theresa’s family thanks the entire staff of St. Joseph Hospital for their care and compassion for Theresa and her family.

Theresa was a member of Daughters of Isabella and Altar Guild Social Committee at Notre Dame de Lourdes, and was a founding volunteer of the St. Anthony soup kitchen. Mom’s life was dedicated to love, caring for and giving to others. She provided the gift of endless love to her family throughout her life, and we will carry and share that love throughout our lives.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Notre Dame de Lourdes, 273 Water St., Skowhegan. Committal will be immediately after at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of visitation, a reception for all family and friends will be after at the church hall.
