DEXTER, Maine — After more than two hours of discussion on Tuesday night, the Town Council finally was ready to vote on whether to keep Linda-Jean Briggs as the town’s manager.
The vote was unanimous to keep Briggs.
A crowd of nearly 50 people, who waited 2 hours and 14 minutes as the council members discussed Briggs’ employment in executive session, applauded at the news.
Briggs will remain as town manager until July 1, 2014, and will receive a salary increase. She will make $63,000 a year, a raise from $50,000 a year.
She was hired on an interim basis on Nov. 14.
Dexter’s previous town manager, Dave Pearson, resigned on Sept. 1. He was immediately hired as Sangerville’s town manager.

the problem in dexter is the town council, same people wanting to be somebody. The old buddy buddy system alive and well .
For some…not all!
For some…not all!
I am very glad that Mrs. Briggs has been asked to continue on as the town manager. She brings hope of forward movement to the town! I look forward to seeing all of the good changes yet to come.
