SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A pair of New York City men were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a drug bust at a South Portland hotel, according to police.

Lt. Frank Clark said in a statement that officers were dispatched to the Days Inn on Maine Mall Road to investigate the report of an odor of marijuana coming from a second-story room.

When officers arrived and identified themselves, one man, Anthony Calderon, 30, of Brooklyn, reportedly jumped out a window before quickly being apprehended in the parking lot.

After police secured the room, a second man, Davidson Cordero, 22, also of Brooklyn, was found hiding in a nearby room that was left open for cleaning, according to Clark.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency was called in to execute a search warrant and 200 bags of heroin with a street value of $4,000, 50 grams of cocaine valued at $5,000, $7,000 in cash and a handgun with the serial number filed off were found in the room, the lieutenant said.

Calderon was taken to Maine Medical Center, where he remains Wednesday under armed guard, for treatment of minor injuries suffered in the fall. Clark said Calderon has a lengthy rap sheet for drugs in New York.

Cordero was was arrested and charged with trespass. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and later released on bail.

Clark said the MDEA is investigating the incident and charges of aggravated trafficking in cocaine are anticipated against Calderon.

  1. No say it ain’t so… Marijuana, oops I mean “medicine” found with 200 bags of heroin, 50 grams of cocaine and a handgun with the serial number
filed off. The pro-marijuana folks would have us believe that pot smokers do not do other illegal drugs or are “drug dealer”. Ya right.

    1. Gees, sounds like veritable department store of drugs.  I always laugh when these empty-heads are caught.  Sure, go up to Maine.  They don’t have cops up there.

      1. They forget or intentionally don’t tell them you really haven’t been to Maine unless you’re north of Portland, or Freeport.

    2. It doesnt say in the article that marijauna was even present.  Why do I suspect your a drunk hypocrite? (MDEA dosent show up for a possession of mary jane, obviously there was a tip off and police fed that line to the media)  I think you may have watched Reefer madness one to many times.

  2. Hey here is an idea. If you are going to commit crimes…act like a saint and dont smoke pot drawing the attention of the police. Cant fix stupid. Nice to see the public involved in reporting what thought was suspicious. The hunch was right..
