WASHBURN – Madeline E. Irving, 93, died April 24, 2012, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Westfield, daughter of Cyrus and Mary (Baird) Allen.

Maddie was a longtime member of Perham Baptist Church, and was a faithful prayer warrior for family and friends. Although she considered herself a farmer’s wife, she began her working years as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. Her love of God and her family were utmost in her life, and she also enjoyed playing games of all sorts. Maddie enjoyed the sweeter things in life, and was famous for her delicious caramel squares.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph B. Irving of Washburn; a son and his wife, Alan and Ginette Irving of Ellenton, Fla.; two daughters and their husbands, Patsy and Charles Coffin of Lehigh, Fla., and Cindy and Paul Callnan of Houlton; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Irving, in 1970.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Perham Baptist Church, Perham, with the Rev. Dave Goupille officiating. Relatives and friends may call 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Crouseville Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be sent to Perham Baptist Church, Perham, ME 04766.
