ORLAND – Margaret (Chandler) Smith was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Thomaston, the third child of Henry and Marion (Chester) Chandler. She passed away peacefully April 25, 2012, surrounded by family at her home.
Margaret enjoyed crafts, bingo and home making.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Irving E. Smith of Orland; three sons, Harvey Smith and wife, Marlene, of Verona, Richard Smith and companion, Polly Gilley, of Orland and Daniel Smith and wife, Leonila, of Orland; son-in-law, Brent Seekins of Verona; grandchildren, Craig Smith and wife, Lorrie, of Bucksport, Carrie Gray and husband, Terry, of Verona, Kimberly Smith of Orland, Benjamin Smith of Orland, Rick Smith and wife, Mandy, of Bucksport, Melissa Proper and husband, Chug, of Deer Isle, Christy Haskell and husband, Justin, of Franklin, Tory Smith of Orland, Joshua Smith of Ellsworth, Jade Smith of Orland and Dawn Nault and husband, Louie, of Deer Isle; great-grandchildren, Bryant, Megan, Justin, Kayla, Vanessa, Autumn, Abigail, Samantha, Drew, Katye, Ashley and Madelyn; brother-in-law, Horace and wife, Gerry Smith; her sisters-in-law, Alice Grace, Doris Grant, Sylvia Smith, Ann Morris and husband, Chuck, and Nancy Chandler; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Marion (Smith) Seekins; brothers, Albert, Harvard and Henry Chandler; daughter-in-law, Frances Smith; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
There will be a celebration of her life 11 a.m. May 5 at Verona Town Hall. There will be a graveside service for the family 11 a.m. May 6 Whitneyville Cemetery, Whitneyville.
