CAMP HILL, Pa. – Elizabeth B. Kane, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Holy Spirit Hospital. Born Dec. 29, 1917, in Morton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Irwin G. and Mary (Eachas) Benkert.
Elizabeth retired from Rose Tree Media School District and was a very active member of Peoples United Methodist Church, Greenville. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star, served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels until her early 80s, and was an instrumental figure in establishing the town of Beaver Cove, as well as implementing the 911 emergency call dispatch to that area.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Chester A. Kane; and by a son-in-law, John McGinn. Surviving are her two children, Anne K. McGinn of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Mark A. Kane of Huntingdon, Pa.; five grandchildren, Johnathan McGinn, Heather Williams, Kristen Cullison, Scott and Brian Kane; four great-grandchildren, William and Erin Williams, Sammy Cullison and Aidan McGinn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Greenville Cemetery.
