UNION, Maine — Maine State Police have released a new surveillance photo as they continue to look for a $40,000 tractor stolen March 19 from Union Farm Equipment on Route 17.
The photo taken from a nearby gas station shows the 2011 Kubota tractor on the back of a red ramp truck as it passes the station along Route 17.
The Kubota model L45, which has a bucket loader on the front and a backhoe on the rear, was stolen from Union Farm Equipment about 2 a.m., according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Trooper Jeremiah Westbrock indicated in his report that a man jumped the fence, started the tractor and then used the bucket to ram through the front gate before driving the tractor onto the ramp truck.
A motorist on Route 17 later reported seeing the ramp truck with the tractor on it driving toward Augusta about 2:20 a.m., according to McCausland.
The theft was discovered when workers arrived at the dealership later that morning.
Anyone with information about the theft or the location of the tractor is asked to call state police at 800-452-4664.
People just never fail in amazing me with the things they do anymore….
This happened awhile ago, but I will add my thoughts on the photo from Maritime Farms shown here……..It looks like a very clean Ford L9000 with white doors and red/orange nose, aluminum front wheels and a bed long enough to hold the Kubota tractor 18-20ft?
My first thought when seeing the photo was the same color scheme as Union St. Citgo in Bangor, but I really have no idea, hopefully my post will jog someones memory?
You can bet they probably painted the truck and trailer after. A red and white truck would stick out.

My guess would be they sold it out of state.

check the junk yards and you will find this tractor
Maybe, but it seems it would make more sense to move it out of state at night. Then they could sell it for half of what it’s worth. leaving it here would be too easy to spot if, the police did their job.
