HOLDEN – Robert “Bob” E. MacDonald, 80, died May 3, 2012, at his home. He was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Eddington, the son of Duncan and Teresa (Norton) MacDonald.

Bob attended schools in Eddington and Brewer. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. Bob worked at several jobs during his career – chicken farm, milk delivery, Mac’s Bakery, Brewer, and was owner of several Dunkin’ Donuts, Brewer, Bangor, Belfast, Bucksport, Brunswick and Presque Isle, until his retirement in 1995. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris A. (Countryman) MacDonald; his children, Bruce Edward MacDonald and his wife, Katherine, of Clifton, Scott Alan MacDonald of Holden, Craig Charles MacDonald of Eddington and Lynn MacDonald Storen and her husband, Frederick, of Eddington; grandchildren, Joseph MacDonald, and his wife, Shanna, of Bangor, Robert MacDonald and his wife, Amber, of Holden, Timothy MacDonald, Jessica MacDonald, Amy MacDonald, Stephanie MacDonald, Brianna and Tyler Storen, Craig MacDonald Jr. and Rebecca MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Blanchard, Alexander MacDonald, Megan MacDonald, Conner MacDonald and Aiden MacDonald; siblings, Donald MacDonald and his wife, Eleanor, of Holden and Rose Wheelden of Eddington; sisters-in-law, Brenda MacDonald of Newport Richie, Fla., and Delores Countryman of New York; brother-in-law, Don Countryman of New York; several nieces and nephews; and a very special great-granddog, Rosemary. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a son, Mark Robert MacDonald; siblings, Lawrence MacDonald and Janice Sprague; and brothers-in-law, Robert Wheelden and Rex Sprague.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Brewer Chapel, Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, with the Rev. Roger Tracy officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at his son’s home, 137 Bruckoff Road, Clifton, after the service.
