BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A 22-year-old Maine woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old Connecticut boy she met while playing the online video game “Call of Duty.”
Cassandra Grant, a shift manager at Domino’s Pizza in Rockland, Maine, pleaded not guilty before Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin to three counts of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor. She elected a trial by jury.
The judge then continued the case to July 3.
Grant, who is free on $10,000 bond, declined comment as she and her lawyer, James Ruane, left the courtroom.
According to police, the two “met” in March 2011 when the boy added her as a friend while the two of them were playing the video game online. Police said the two talked, instant messaged and played games daily.
Police said the boy later told them he felt he and Grant had the “same feelings about life in general.” He said he learned right away she was 22 and he told her he was 14.
On March 24, 2011, the boy told Grant he wanted to be her boyfriend and she agreed, police said. But the two didn’t actually meet until Dec. 18, 2011, when police said Grant checked into a motel in Danbury near the mall. The following day police said the boy lied to his parents about visiting a friend and instead walked to the end of his street where Grant picked him up. They then went back to her motel room where they had sex, police said.
Police continued that the boy subsequently brought Grant home to meet his parents. They said he introduced her as a 16-year-old friend. Following dinner with his parents, police said Grant and the boy had sex in his bedroom. The boy’s father later drove Grant back to her motel room.
The next day police said the boy told his parents, who were leaving for work, he was feeling too ill to go to school. Instead, police said, he dressed up in a suit and waited for Grant to arrive. After having sex, Grant and the boy talked of “plans together for later in life,” police said.
But the boy’s older sister became suspicious of the relationship and after checking found out Grant’s real age, police said. She then told her parents who called the police.
Police said when they confronted Grant, who at that time was working at a bank in Thomaston, Maine, she admitted having sex with the boy and was expecting to be visited by police.

Not to take away from the real issue here but ………
“Police continued that the boy subsequently brought Grant home to meet his parents. They said he introduced her as a 16-year-old friend. Following dinner with his parents, police said Grant and the boy had sex in his bedroom. The boy’s father later drove Grant back to her motel room.”
Am I missing something here or doesn’t it sound like the parents allowed them to have sex.
The ‘ick’ level is pretty high.
I’ll bet he has made the older sister pay.
They like each other-cut em’ some slack for crying out loud
Would you say the same thing if the genders were switched? 14 year old girl and 22 year old boy?
gotta love you if types

She should be treated as any other sexual predator!
None of this ‘But we loved one another…” that many women claim as a defense and then get 30 days…
These parents need their parental rights revoked.
“Honey, Bobby’s new girlfriend is sure enthusiastically agreeing a lot with him up in his bedroom!”
If he had committed a crime, he would probably be tried as an adult. Sounds like everything was consensual. Let them be.
the boys father drove her to motel???? red flag here, have too be 19 to get a hotel, sorry parents are to blame also if you ask me.
she was 22 if you read the story..plenty old enough to get a hotel room
i meant that red flag for the parents, to see she was older than 16….. i know i would have questioned it when i dropped her off at a motel. still feel parents should be held accountable also.
OMG! A definite sexual predator! That woman needs to go to jail ASAP. Just look at the smug look on her face! I am disgusted and mortified that this still goes on today. Good job parents for calling the police. I hope your son now understands exactly what adults (age 18 & over) are NOT supposed to do to children.
I was thinking the same thing….she looks real upset. Man, desperado………why would the parents let them go into his bedroom and “hang out” obviously with the door closed? Bizarre.
I must reply on this as this young lady did not lie or hide her age from this young man . To be a predator you must trick someone into thinking you are of the same age group then try to explain your lie, obviously that was not the case . I grew up in the sixties and will tell you there were a couple of twentyone and twentytwo year old females that gave quite a few of us a lesson in lifes greatest experiences at 14,15, years old. And i assure all of you that it did not leave a scar on my or my friends lives.Call me a male chauvenist but there is a differance between fourteen year old males and fourteen year old females. Turn it around and i would say put him away but in this case no harm no foul !!!! Oh and i raised two great children .
Bangor Daily News, was it really necessary to identify this young woman’s place of employment? That does not add anything to this article and can cause even more problems for her. Even if the article was copied from the Connecticut Post, you should know better. I don’t usually criticize your newspaper (except when the spelling errors become atrocious) but this time I feel you overstepped your bounds.

Problem is, at 14 he isn’t ready to make decisions like this. When kids stop having kids, then maybe we can just chalk it up to being a 14 year old boy. She is a predator, and he knew it was wrong.

What is wrong with the parents that they allow a 14 year old boy to disappear into his bedroom with a “girlfriend”.
Not everyone is a holier than thou prood. My son had plenty of girl friends over and he grew up to be the responcible father of three .
She should definately be held accountable, she is not normal, why would a 22 year old be interested in a 14 year old???? But, the parents can share some of the blame. As a parent I would wonder why a “16 year year old girl” could drive to another state, get a motel room & not have anyone to report to herself to see a 14 year old. Parents should have been on high alert & they were neglectful in my opinion.
If this kids parents believed she was 16, they need eye exams asap. Why did the dad give her a ride back to a motel/hotel room if, he believed she was 16? An last but not least, didn’t the hair stand up on the back of Mom’s neck when she got a look at this “16” year old girl?
