WINTERPORT – Kenneth W. Beal, 51, passed away unexpectedly May 8, 2012, at his home. Ken was born Dec. 21, 1960, in Calais, son of the late Robert and Carol (Davis) Beal.

Ken grew up in Machias and moved to Hampden in eighth grade. He was a graduate of Hampden Academy, class of 1979, and a graduate of the University of Maine, class of 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance. After two years of public accounting, Ken earned his CPA, and then began working at H.O. Bouchard, where he worked for the past 26 years, holding the position of chief financial officer. Ken’s expertise in accounting and finance earned him the position of chairperson for D & S Suppliers Group for many years. Ken was an avid sports enthusiast, and coached travel soccer, travel basketball, and was the assistant coach for Hampden Academy’s varsity soccer team for the 2007 season. Ken had many passions, including hiking, music of all kinds, but most of all spending time with his family at their camp on Cathance Lake. Ken’s strong character allowed him to seamlessly be a councilor and confidant for colleagues, family and friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Barbie (Leighton) Beal; adoring children, Jillian Ingerson and husband, Lance, and Nick Beal and girlfriend, Kayle Clements; sister, Barb Hennessey and husband, Steve; brothers, Bob Beal and wife, Kathy, and Dana Beal and wife, Becky; many special nieces and nephews; as well as his faithful companions, Rusty and Kovu.

Family and friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A private interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
