TOWNSHIP 16 RANGE 4 — A man who crashed his truck into some trees in this township, commonly referred to as Madawaska Lake, was able to walk away from the accident.

Darren Woods, chief of the North Lakes Fire and Rescue, said Friday that details of the single-vehicle accident still were forthcoming and he did not immediately have the name of the male driver or the make and model of the truck involved.

He said that the individual was driving a truck on Route 161 when his vehicle veered off the road and into trees.

Woods said that his department got the call just after 1:15 p.m. and seven members of the rescue service went to the scene of the accident.

When they arrived, the man already was out of the vehicle and said that he was not hurt. He was not taken to a hospital.

Woods said he believed the man was wearing a seat belt and his air bag deployed.

Maine State Police are investigating the crash.

  1. T16 R4 was commonly known as Madawaska Lake until the community was renamed to Madawaska Lake by legislative action in 2009.

    1. In the afternoon wearing a seatbelt? Does not sound like a drinking incident. If it was- at least he was safe about it.
