WATERVILLE, Maine — A man threatened a pizza shop employee with a hammer and demanded cash Sunday night but got away with nothing, according to police.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday an employee at Scotty’s Pizza on Water Street was closing up the shop when a man wearing dark clothes and a dark ski mask approached, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
The suspect threatened the employee with a hammer, pushed him and demanded cash, Rumsey said.
The employee retreated inside the shop and locked the suspect outside. The suspect repeatedly banged on the door but did not gain access to the business.
Once the suspect left, the employee went to the police station to report the incident, Rumsey said. The suspect is described as 5 feet 10 inches, of slim build and in his mid-20s to mid-30s.
If caught, the man could face charges of attempted robbery, criminal threatening and assault. Anyone with information on this incident should contact Waterville police at 680-4700.

I hope they nail him!!
Glad the robber didn’t get any dough. Using a hammer is very cheesy, and this thing could have mushroomed into something larger.
I wonder if the guy was hammered.
add some sauce and you’ve got yourself a pizza
note to employees: don’t carry hammers. just what does a pizza shop need with a hammer anyway?
If you read the article correctly, it was the suspect who had the hammer. Not the employee.
:-)
how about ‘ a man with a hammer threatened a pizza shop employee’ ?; ‘a pizza shop employee was threatened by a man using a hammer as a weapon’? ‘ a man, hammered at a pizza shop, was threatened by an employee’?
note to self: see the book “Eats, shoots and leaves”.
I love that book! Good example!
…..
Stop!
Hammer time.
Why didn’t the pizza shop employee(the one with the hammer :-), call police from inside the store while the perp was outside banging on the door?
