BREWER, Maine — A Columbia Falls teenager stopped his vehicle when he came face to face with a school bus on Washington Street on Tuesday, but then “moved forward slowly after the bus’s lights were activated,” Brewer police Sgt. Arden Jones said Wednesday.

Devin Brann, 19, was stopped at around 2:30 p.m. by Lt. Chris Martin, who charged him with passing a stopped school bus. His court date is in July, Jones said.

  1.  I once had a friend that was going a little too fast and didn’t have time to stop for the school bus. Its definitely a big fine. I bet this kid will think twice next time he sees the yellow cheese wagon. Not really a news worthy story tho.

    1. This is a much better story than “Columbia Falls teen hits child when passing Brewer school bus.”  This is a good reminder for everyone.

  2. It is a newsworthy story if it stops another careless teen, or someone of any age,  from doing the same thing!!—There’s a lot of kids getting on and off these buses—Isen’t this one of the first things taught when your trying to show your responsible enough to drive??

  3. He didnt even pass the bus he was just creeping up …..Maine RubberKneckers….are every where watch out, now they have phones so know you have the police and your neighbors all working together watching your every move …….Maine is awesome if you live in the woods

  4. It would have been big news if he hit a child I hope he enjoys the $300 fine and the 90 days without driving.

  5. Devin is not a bad kid, and most definitely not careless,  im sure theres a simple explanation as to why this happened.
Maybe by the time the bus stopped and put its lights on, it was too late for Devin to stop before the bus, and by doing so he stopped almost beside the bus, right in the path of where the kids would be crossing?? in which case, the smart thing to do would be to move out the way!
