BAR HARBOR – Milton “Putt” T. Walls Jr., 77, died May 15, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and special friends at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1934, in Tremont, son of Milton T. and Zulma (Wentworth) Walls Sr.
Putt graduated from Gilman High School, Northeast Harbor, and Merginthol Linotype School, New York City. He worked for Bar Harbor Times in the office for 12 years, was the owner and operator of B&P Builders, and caretaker of Madeira Estates, Manset, for 42 years. Putt was a member of Mount Desert Island Lions Club, where he served as King Lion for 1 1/2 years, member of Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge, Anah Shrine and Hancock County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jeri (Wasgatt) Walls; children, Bruce and wife, Cindy, Brent Walls, Dawna Burton and husband, Tom, Brenda Williams and husband, Ron, Debbie Rochon and partner, Mike Silva, and Wendy Pelletier and husband, Craig; four brothers, Edgar and wife, Nancy, Bill and wife, Dee, Frank Walls, and Lonnie and wife, Donna; two sisters, Ida Page and Jean Gilley; and grandchildren, Whitney, Taylor and Ben Walls, Brooke, Tommy and Abbie Burton, Brandon and Brianna Williams, Raife and Emily Rochon, Derek and Amber Pelletier, Jacob Walls and Cody Seavey. Putt was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Leatrice Gilley and Wilma Seavey; one brother, Leroy Walls; and grandson, Riley Williams.
Graveside memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Otter Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Buchanan officiating.
