SEARSPORT – Jeanette E. Clark, 86, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, in Belfast, after a brief illness. She was born March 4, 1926, in Belfast, daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (Benson) Howard.
Jeanette graduated from Searsport High School in 1945. After school she worked for two local grocery stores until her marriage, when she became a devoted homemaker. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Jeanette is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband of 59 years, Robert A. Clark Sr.; children, Robert A. Clark Jr. and wife, Cherie, Susanne Rivers and husband, Bud, Nellie Clark and Dan Sylvester, Howard Clark and wife, Kathryn, Harriet Clark and husband, Bill Gillis; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Eudora Perkins “Dody;” as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Winifred MacKenzie Casey, Nellie Howard, Ella Rogers and Ferne Krienke; and brothers, Linwood Howard and Vaughn Howard.
In keeping with Jeanette’s wishes, there will be a private graveside service. Donations in Jeanette’s memory may be made to The First Congregational Church of Searsport, P.O. Box 261, Searsport, ME 04974. Arrangements are under the direction of Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport.
