BANGOR, Maine — A local woman kicked off her three-day weekend behind bars after she stole nearly $40 worth of merchandise from Shaw’s on Saturday evening, according to police.

Christina Hart, 34, attempted to leave the Main Street supermarket with approximately $39.74 worth of items, including a bottle of vodka, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Store security confronted Hart when she attempted to leave the store and contacted police, the sergeant said.

Hart was arrested, charged with theft and taken to Penobscot County Jail. She was later released on bail.

    1. A guy here in Mass just recently (legally!) paid his bail with an EBT card! Gov Patrick(D) called it “anecdotal evidence” of EBT fraud. None so blind…..

        1. I could make Maine blush with the politics down here: the Gov brown-nosing the POTUS since day one, Martha Coackly (knocked out by Scott Brown now running against Lie-a-Watha Granny Warren), our Attorney General who said “it’s not illegal to be illegal” in our Haven State (witness Obama’s aunt and uncle), 3,count them, 3 Speakers of the House in a row in the federal slammer….. Makes Maine politicians look like amateurs. If it weren’t so engaging, it would be even sadder.

We also recently raised the tax on Booze. Instead of raising it on the base price, it was on the TAXED price! At least Romney balanced the budget in this decidedly D State and a D Congress, he did it without a tax increase! Sorry to ramble, but this got me started.

          1. No problem, I’m just glad to hear we are not the only ones.  I can honestly say that I am not either an R or a D, namely because I’m ashamed at what both sides have done.  Not one party is in itself 100% correct.  Both have great ideas, and I believe if we could just work together and come to a compromise on most issues, we would be in a better position.  But corruption in all of politics is keeping us from attaining that.

          2. Thanks, Todd. Washington (and indeed the whole country) seems to have turned into a circus-tug-of-war of extremes. Most people are moderates that now just sit back with and roll their eyes in disgust. It’s happened many times before, but this is right now!     ;-o

    2. Its possible she was released on that new personal bail.  You show to court and you dont go to jail deal.  No money changes hand for bail on that case
