FORT FAIRFIELD – Lorena M. Fox, 74, wife of the late Alton J. “Spud” Fox, passed away Tuesday evening, May 29, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility after a brief illness. She was born July 6, 1937, in Island Falls, daughter of Eli and Helene (Saucier) Sirois.
She attended Island Falls schools and was married to Alton J. Fox, Nov. 15, 1953. Lorena will be remembered as a welcoming, compassionate person, whose passion in life was helping others, dispensing common sense to those who truly needed it. Being the family leader, Lorena patched up hurt feelings, and always kept her family together. She was also an accomplished knitter, making many mittens and hats throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fox was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Alton,
March 19, 2004; one brother, Alfred Sirois; and one sister, Cecile Plourde. She is survived by six sons, Duane Fox and his wife, Torrie, of Bolton, Conn., Bryon Fox and his wife, Ruth, Robert Fox and his companion, Karen Hammond, all of Presque Isle, Gregory Fox and his wife, Debbie, Larry Fox, and Alton Fox II and his wife, Jeannie, all of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Bonnie Taggett and her husband, Ralph, of Fort Fairfield; two brothers, William Sirois of Connecticut and Gilbert Sirois of Island Falls; one sister, Janet Russell of Island Falls; one sister-in-law, Ginette Sirois of Caribou; 19 grandchildren, Trent Fox of Connecticut, Devin J. Fox of Houlton, Rebekah Gilbert and Caleb Fox, both of Connecticut, Sam and Michael Fox, both of Presque Isle, Sarah Clifford of Portland, Kellie Lynn Thibeau of Kennebunkport, Heather and Ryan Fox of Fort Fairfield, Randy Fox of Troy, Daniel Taggett of Presque Isle, Krissy Taggett of Fort Fairfield, Rosalie Haley of Presque Isle, Erin Williams, Christopher, Adam, Jonathan and Jaydyn Fox, all of Fort Fairfield; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fox also leaves behind a special friend, Anita Adams of Fort Fairfield.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will be held after at Dyer Brook Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Fox to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
